Another Project of mine

I love redoing our house (even if I complain about it every now and then about how much of a pain it is to remodel, it is definitely worth it in the end). So I decided to undergo the remodeling of our backyard this time. I was so sick of the straight lines and two floppy trees. The edging was really nice when we first put it in and it had begun to deteriorate and was just getting gross. Plus, I was getting bored. So the two floppy trees came out (and have been given a good home at my parents' place), I took out the picket fence cedar edging, expanded the back flower bed about 6-8 feet, expanded the side bed about 1.5 feet and raided my mom's and mother-in-laws flower gardens for flowers (as well as Home Depot and Lowe's clearance sections). We also purchased a flowering weeping cherry tree for the back corner and moved our dwarf plum tree over to the driveway entrance. Our bench that was a wedding gift moved from it's cozy little spot on the porch to the back corner by the cherry tree. I put in a stone walkway to the bench, moved my birdbath out back from it's place in front and planted over 50 flowers. Jason then went to my parents' place and picked over 50 rocks (which we still need a few more to go) to put around the border of the beds. Mind you, this was all done in 85 degree temps and pretty well finished in two days. We have just a few more rocks for the edging to get yet and probably next year we will re-do the front, unless I feel like I have the ambition here sometime in the next couple of weeks to undergo that task. Here are the before and after pictures of the back yard.

Before

After (don't mind the trash bags in back)

Before - look at the right side

After looking from the house (the stones are not complete towards the left side of the photo. We still have to get a few more.)

the yard looks very nice and I'm sure Jacob will enjoy much swing time in the fall and future as well as mom and dad.
