Tulip Festival

Early in May, we traveled an hour north to the beautiful town of Holland, Michigan for their annual Tulip Festival!  What a gorgeous town!  We stopped by a little "Dutch Town" that had so many fun things to do and of course, many picture opportunities open for us moms (we went with who else, Livi and Kristal - and even Kristal's mom was in town for the trip!).  We had a lot of fun and will have to make this a yearly tradition.

Cheesing it up in wooden shoes

This was what the Dutch refer to as the 'Wedding Wagon'.  What's even funnier about this picture is that we asked them to give each other a hug and they just leaned in and smooched each other.  I think for the future, we'll hold off another 20 years or so before that happens again!

Good boy!

This was a huge wooden shoe that had a slide and lookout area for the kids.  We spent quite a while here :)

There was even a little petting zoo with goats, bunnies and chickens.

This place seemed to have everything in means of entertainment for children.  There was the carousel, which is always a hit in our household.

And then there was the swings, which Jacob had never seen before. Now, these are the swings that start out all fun going around and around and then as they go faster and faster, they swing out to the side and you are going on your side before you know it.  Jacob was not so sure about this, but the faster we went, the faster he wanted to go!

These were nifty little cars and little did we realize, self moving.  Jacob and Livi had to actually push and pull the little bar in the middle to move all the way around the track.  They were good sports and amazed us by sticking it out and doing the entire track (which was not short by any means).  We have some strong little kiddos!

What would a trip to Holland be without a couple pictures of Jacob in wooden shoes? These were in the gift shop when we were getting our 'item' to remember the trip.  Jacob ended up with a 'pop-gun' - the one where you pull the barrel and the cork pops out of the end.  No little boy should ever grow up without a pop-gun and no domesticated animal - or any animal - is safe from a little boy that owns a pop-gun! ; )
