Day 6: Petosky, Charlevoix

After stopping by to get some yummy fudge in the morning in downtown Mackinaw City, we started our journey home.  Such a sad day - leaving such a beautiful place behind (Mackinaw is still my favorite place to vacation - except for our Honeymoon to the Caribbean - SO FAR!)  Our journey took us to nearby Petoskey, MI, mostly know for it's Petoskey Stones.  We stopped by the State Park to see if we could HUNT for some of the FAMOUS stones and hunt we did - or at least JASON did!

Here, Jason has a little sifter that he is using as he scoops up the sand and rocks in the surf and Jacob is 'helping' by telling daddy WHERE to scoop - such a HELPER!!

Jacob's interest in the hunt for stones soon diminished towards a new task - playing in the sand.

He became quite good at it too.

So much so, that if you look closely you can see that his love for the sand FOLLOWED us back to the car :) -

Next stop on the way to Newaygo for the night was Charlevoix.  What a beautiful town - and mighty wealthy little town too.  Since Charlevoix sits right on the bay, it is a popular place to dock your yacht - which they had on SALE for about $125,000...not too bad!  There were soo many yachts around, but nothing compared to this 175 (or so) foot yacht.  Apparently the guy that started "The Village" in Florida is the one that owns this yacht.  CRAZY!!!

It was a very WINDY day in Charlevoix and the waves crashing against the wall had the entire jet-out soaked - along with anyone who ventured out on there.

Outside their BEAUTIFUL library - which used to be the school, was some beautiful gardens.  We would have stayed longer in this 'little' town, however, the rain clouds were moving in and we though it best to book it back to the truck.
