Around the garden (and yard)...

I am SOOOO EXCITED!!!!!  Our garden is MOSTLY planted and plants are coming up or planted (I bought tomatoes and the squash)!  I have come such a long way since the first 'garden' (if you could even count the 3x8ft space as a garden).  I originally had 9 tomato plants 2 pepper plants, 1 crook-necked squash, 1 basil plant, 1 thyme plant, and 1 chives plant, last year I added a small row of lettuce, 4 green beans and 4 pea plants, and this year we have a "HUGE" garden that is intertwined with all my flowers.  I'm really hoping the tomatoes do better this year than last year.  I have also abandoned pepper plants.  For some reason, they just don't do good here (which is amazing because everything else does!).  This year (so far - sorry honey) we have:

32 green bean plants, with a 6ft row of sweet lettuce mix in front

9 tomato plants:
3 here...

6 here...with a 2x2ft patch of sweet lettuce mix on the right

1 crook-necked squash:

2-6 cucumber plants (we'll see what comes up): not pictured because...well, they aren't up yet

2 - 1ft by 1ft patches of dill:

1 1x3ft planter of basil, 1 2x2ft planter of chives, 1 2x2ft planter of 1/2 green onion and 1/2 thyme:

1 strawberry planter of 6 strawberry plants because Jacob wanted strawberries:

And we already have our first harvest...1 strawberry :)

I have cabbage plants to grow too, but I'm not so sure about them with all I read about the many things that can go wrong with pests, so we'll have to wait and see about them.  I might not know what I have gotten myself into with so many plants.  Time will tell just how crazy I am : )  Is it too early to say I'm ready for some home-grown goodies?

Here is my hydrangea bush.  It is already HUGE!  It should be flowering soon and it will be SOOO beautiful and always smells so great.  I love getting fresh cut hydrangeas and bringing them into the house!

My beautiful Clematis that is only two years old!  When I bought it, it was on clearance because, well.....it was on its way....."out".  It came back with a little nurturing and it has doubled in size from last year. The blooms are so amazing and the purple is a nice addition to adding some color to an early green perennial garden.

My rose bush is blooming a little late this year and only blooms for about a week, but it has SUCH yellow button roses when it does.  I received this plant from my grandma right after Jason and I got married.  I believe it used to be my great-grandma's (maybe even great-great grandma's)!  Certainly an heirloom!

One of three hanging baskets with million-bells in it - red, purple and yellow.  They are so pretty and add such a great color to all the green!

My lovely red geranium planter from my in-laws for Mother's Day! I love how the red goes so well with the grey siding :)
