Our Vacation this year was 'camping' in 3 of Indiana's Southern State Parks. I use 'camping' quite loosely since we are I am a complete wimp and actually stayed in the inns in the park or in the cabins. I appreciate the beautiful outdoors that God has provided us with, however, I can do without the wonderful heat and humidity and like to sleep on a mattress in the air conditioning. Since I have an addiction of taking too many pictures, I will spare you the play by play and hit the highlights :)
Shades State Park
At the head of the trail ready for an almost 1.5 mile moderate/rugged hike...
After what seemed like 100 steps, we are down on the creek bed of Sugar Creek
Beautiful rock formations down in the canyons
Silver Cascade Falls - It doesn't actually fall but rather runs over the rocks.
Jacob on the creek bed above Silver Cascade Falls
At Inspiration point - beautiful view even if it was a bit overgrown.
Prospect Point, just above Inspiration point and a much better view of the park.
Hanging around at Shades
Deer's Mill Covered Bridge at Shades
Passed out after the hike
Arrival at Turkey Run State Park Inn
We had a corner room at Turkey Run.
Out for a hike on trail 6 - about a half mile of moderate/rugged terrain.
This is Lieber Cabin and Jason had his picture taken with his brothers and cousin here 20 years ago.
Sunset Point looks out over Sugar Creek
Down in Turkey Run Hollow - the rock formations here are beautiful, but nothing compared to what we saw the second day over in Rocky Hollow.
Turkey Run Hollow
Just beautiful
Trees growing out the underside of the rocks
Even with a little water, the boy finds rocks and insists on throwing them back in.
Jason is up there in the middle of the picture. Just goes to show you how far down we really are.
Even the pictures don't do it justice
Dinner at the Inn finished off with a much needed dip in the pool was a great way to end the day.
