You know those 3 drawer carts like this
that are very unattractive? Well, we have one that was in our living room, over in the corner, behind the door so it wouldn't be seen easily. I use it to store Jacob's crayons, coloring books, school items that he needs to work on, etc. to keep it all out of the way and confined to a specific spot. My new favorite site, Pinterest.com, has provided a multitude of ideas and this happened to be one of the first ones I saw after it underwent a makeover.
It was pretty simple. All you need is spray paint, Mod Podge, an x-acto knife and three sheets of paper (or how ever many drawers you have). I found these three coordinating vintage looking sheets in my stash and they are perfect for a boy - planes, cars and boats!
First I went out into our garage and spray painted the 'frame' with a black hammered paint. It gave it a nice glossy finish and the hammered paint makes it look a little more upscale.
Then came the drawers. I generously mod Podged the inside of one of the drawers and carefully laid the paper in making sure to start from the middle working your way out, pressing out all the bubbles as you go. Then repeat for the other drawers. After it was completely dry, I took the x-acto knife and carefully slid it along the top of the drawer to cut off the excess paper.
Viola! A better looking drawer set that now goes a little better in the room and isn't a complete eye-sore.
