{Easter Fun}

Holidays are so much more fun when you have kids.  Don't get me wrong, I loved holidays before Jacob came into our lives, but it is so much 'MORE' now that he is with us.  This year for Easter we had a get together (only Liv could join us this year, but hey, still fun!).

We had 'bunnies' and carrots for lunch (or the kids did anyways - Kristal and I had some more 'grown up' food!)

We started a new tradition this year....Resurrection Rolls.  I found the idea on Pinterest here (I am copying her directions and she has some other great posts too you should check out!)
1. Take a large canned biscuit for each person.  Flatten the biscuit out until it's about 5 inches across.  Spread melted butter, sugar and cinnamon on it.  Explain that the spices represent the spices used to anoint Jesus' body before His burial.

2. Hand out one large marshmallow to each person.  The marshmallow represents Jesus.  It is white because it stands for His purity and His sinless life.  Place the marshmallow in the center of the biscuit.

3. Then fold the sides around it forming a "tomb".

4. Put more butter, cinnamon and sugar on the outside.  Talk about the sweet taste of the spices and how Jesus gave us the sweetest gift we will ever receive.  Place the biscuits crease side down on a greased baking sheet so they will not open while cooking.

5. At this point you can bake the buns.  Follow the directions on the biscuit package to bake them.  Allow a little cooling time because the marshmallow will be very hot.

6. When you bite into your rolls you will be surprised to find the center empty.  The marshmallow has melted.  As each person discovers the empty tomb, discuss the scripture Matthew 28:6 "He is not here: for He is risen . . ."

We did our Easter Egg hunt while the biscuits were cooking and of course, it was a hit.

Jacob did his first year of coloring eggs all by himself.  He made sure he was REALLY careful not to just dump the egg in the coloring and I wrote little messages on each one.  My favorite part is the egg salad that gets made afterwards, but it was fun to watch Jacob do it by himself :)

Easter Morning Jacob was met with his Easter Basket.  He loved it :)

After church, we did our annual egg hunt at Grandma and Grandpa LaCava's.  All the cousins had fun looking for 'their' eggs :)

The boys being silly with grandpa (which has become that one 'thing' Jacob and Alex are good at!)
