It has been SOOOOOO cold around here this winter. This is the worst continuous winter I have seen it since I can remember (sorry, wasn't around in 78 like Jason was). :) I have seen more snow at once before, however, this one seems like it keeps going and going and going....
It has been so bad and so cold, that Lake Michigan had frozen over for the most part. With a warm up rumored to happen in the near future, we ventured out in the horribly cold winter and went up to St. Joe to check out the frozen lake! Unfortunately it was not only cold and cold, it was also really windy AND it started snowing as soon as we got there so we stayed long enough for me to get a couple shots with the camera and off we went!
Yes, that is Lake Michigan and those big 'drifts' in the foreground background are waves that had frozen! You can see the lighthouse in the very right of the picture.
It was snowing so hard by this point that you can barely make out the lighthouse in the background and the incredibly red cheeks of baby girl. She was all snuggly warm in her snow suit and fleece outfit, but man her poor little face! Jason had her completely covered when I was done taking pictures and she wanted to see! Silly girl! Funny thing here, they are almost as far out as the lighthouse it! That's a ways out there!
Jacob up on the shore line where the 'waves' had frozen.
It was fun to see something we may never see again. At least Jacob will remember it :)
Of course, the way home was a trial....
It was snowing so hard the road crews couldn't keep up with the roadways and you couldn't see the lanes. It was a very tense and quiet ride home!
