Strawberries

I was hopeful our trip to the strawberry patch this year would yield these huge, red, delicious strawberries.  I guess I'll take 2 out of 3 (huge they were not!).  They were scrumptious strawberries, but were at most the size of a quarter.

Here Jacob is saying the strawberry is 'bleeding' on his hand. Out of the mouth of a boy!  I'm just overjoyed that he now is able to eat strawberries without getting sick! He enjoyed picking the strawberries and claims he picked them all (which as much as he tried, he maybe picked a quart) : )  I welcome the thought of him helping mommy and he enjoyed eating the fruit of his labor.

We ended up making 8-8oz jars and 8-16oz jars of strawberry jam this year and still had a few left over to enjoy with some homemade whipped cream. Maybe next year the weather will be forgiving and help yield a larger crop : )
