Brown County, Nashville, IN

On to Nashville!! We ventured into Nashville, which is quite touristy, but beautiful none-the-less.  The little shops are very cute and there really is something for everyone.  We stopped by the "Rock Place" so Jacob could do something more than hiking.  We found some devout Notre Dame fans in the process.  Small world!  We bought a small bag for Jacob to 'mine' his own gems...

He had SOOO much fun running the dirt in the water and washing off his gems.

Such a proud little guy! He wanted to take them everywhere with him the rest of our trip :)

At Brown County State Park, we took a chance and wanted to camp out without really 'camping out'.  There will be no tent sleeping for me.  I'm a wimp and need my mattress (although we might have slept better on the floor here).

The cabins are not too bad with hardwood floors, beds, running water and electricity (and A/C!)

The rooms are quite spacious, complete with a closet and to our surprise, freshly installed fridge, microwave and coffee pot!  They were so freshly installed that they didn't even have a chance to get cold before we checked in!

After settling in to our last home away from home, we hit the trails.

Ok, so after numerous trails, four days of craziness - no naps, hot days, it all finally caught up with our little guy.  About halfway through the trail, he refused to go any further.  He just stopped mid-walk and broke down.  Poor little guy.  There was no attempt even to try and calm him or bribe him either.  He quickly became a sack of potatoes over daddy's shoulder and we continued on.

This must have confused him greatly, because before too long, he was begging to get down because he couldn't see anything.  Ah, how quickly a toddler changes their mind.  Here he is explaining to daddy what the vine is wrapped around the tree.  What an imagination this one has.  The stories he tells remind me so much of his Great Grampy.

Despite, the breakdown and the heat, we managed to make it back for a restful evening at the water park.  Oh did someone's little eyes light up when we walked in! 12,000 square feet of water fun made his day. He spent a majority of his time on the water slide.  Up he would go and down he would come.  Before he even popped up from under the water, he was headed out to go again.

So made his day!
