I loved getting married! Falling in love, planning the wedding, actually getting married, moving in together, decorating YOUR house. I'm sure I enjoyed that more than my wonderful, loving husband, but it was fun to go pick out OUR new furniture together. Then our little bundle came along and funny turn of events, that furniture we picked out as newlyweds became, well, USED...a LOT! So after almost 7 years of marriage and 5 years of pounding, pushing, climbing, jumping off of and sliding across, our old coffee table HAD TO GO (at least it was demoted to downstairs as it is still in a functioning capacity, just not an every day, hi, how are you doing coffee table). After Christmas, the search was on. I went to every store in Mishawaka, tried online discount stores, every where. After suffering from sticker shock of what tables cost (I mean really? $600 for JUST a coffee table, goodness!!!), I then ended up at Value City of all places (which had just recently merged with The Room Place). Jacob and I had fun looking around at all the beautiful tables in here just like every other store (and some not so pretty ones). Then we came across this one.
It had everything I was looking for - yes I say I. This time around, the hubby wasn't as interested in what we were getting as he knows I'm not going to bring something home that I know he will absolutely hate, plus with the wonderful word of texting, I sent him pictures :) Anywho, I was looking for a trunk like piece that had storage. Boy is that ever what we found!
This piece is nothing but storage! Drawers on either side that pull out, lids on both side tops that life up and have pull out trays and a center console that has deep storage (designed for wine bottles, but so not what it will be used for). The hubby was sold, so I bought it. It was in the clearance section because one of the sides had a small little piece that was broke during shipping, but had been replaced. I know it's there, but unless you are really looking it over, you wouldn't notice it :) Which means, MARKDOWNS!! $400 in markdowns to be exact! Bonus!
I was curious if it the piece had been online and I had missed it somewhere so inquisitive as I am, I did a search. What popped up but Crate and Barrel. Really? Crate and Barrel at Value City? No, couldn't be. Sure enough, right in front of me was the old version of a Crate and Barrel trunk (the new version has pump closing hinges so they don't slam down). Price $899. YIKES! with a little dent in one side, we paid less than $200 for ours! Boy I love a bargain!!
