Rochester, New York is a beautiful city. After a few days of hiking and gazing on the beautiful country side Western New York has to offer, we took a trip to Seneca Park Zoo. A zoo is a zoo, but it's fun to see different animals and plus, junior loves the zoo. We got to see two bald eagles close up, which is a rare occasion.
They are beautiful aren't they!?
This "little" guy was trying to make an escape when the keeper came in to change his food out, but the poor thing was blocked and decided that Jacob looked like a friend. He kept trying to get through the glass and all we could do was laugh :)
Like Ft. Wayne, Seneca Park Zoo is a very kid friendly zoo. There were a number of hands on activities for the kiddos including this little stream area for them to play in on hot days. Jacob wanted to play around in the stream and knowing the end result, we thought it'd fun to watch. We warned him to be careful and not splash, but you know boys :)
As you can see, his shirt is already wet and we just had to laugh.
And of course, as we knew it would happen, Jacob made one wrong step and down he went into the stream. He was soaked to the gills!! We were laughing SOOO hard, you would have thought we were absolutely the worst parents around! Of course, the little guy didn't think it was so funny, but hey, you can't be good parents unless you make sure you embarrass your children right?
After Seneca Park Zoo, we traveled up to Ontario Beach Park to grab a look at Lake Ontario. It's a great little place tucked away at the northern end of Seneca Lake and the mouth of Lake Ontario. There was a carousel on the beach and Mr. Cool wanted to ride it :)
There was also a great boardwalk along the sound and apparently there was a sailboat race that day out on Lake Ontario and we got to watch them come in.
I have seen all of the Great Lakes before now, but Lake Ontario is the only one I have not stepped food in until now.
We waded in the Lake for a little while and continued along the boardwalk until it was time to move on to our next destination. What fun it will be to see Niagara Falls tomorrow!
