One Month....Where did the time go?

I've lost a month somewhere and I'm not sure where it went!?!  Our little Jenna Beth is already a month old and it went by WAY too quick! They (those people who have done this before) are really not lying when they say you blink and they are in school.  With Jacob, time went by fairly regular as all I had to deal with was him and two days of work a week.  With Jenna, it's a WHOLE different story.  Having a 6 year old that moves and doesn't slow down and a more demanding (but oh so very flexible and much better) job to handle, it makes us look back on the day and ask where the time went.

So, advice for moms with two kids that have a significant age difference (ours are 6 years and a few months) - at least advice from a complete novice of one month's experience?

Take it slow (if that's possible)!

Involve your older child in helping, even if it does not involve your younger child. Jacob is old enough to take the laundry from the washer and put it in the dryer and turn the dryer on.  He is old enough to pick up his own toys, make his bed and put his clothes away (I sort them out first).  He is certainly old enough to "play" with his sister for 5 minutes without banging on her and is also old enough to throw away diapers or grab an outfit for me.

Take time for yourself if you have a supportive husband.  Jason is extremely helpful!  He will feed Jenna when he gets home, he'll go do something with Jacob  and keep him entertained, I get to take a LONG shower by myself without interruption, and he'll even watch both kids while I go to the store (this is not called babysitting as it is their own child and you don't babysit your own child) - Get the man a medal!  He certainly deserves it mostly for the last part.  Most guys won't stay home for 3 hours while their wife goes to the store to grocery shop and not complain when she gets home because she wanted just a few more minutes to herself :)

So anyway, back to Jenna turning a month old...The beautiful vintage blanket she is sitting on was actually one of my baby blankets and it is perfect for her.  I have done most of her room in shabby vintage chic so it goes well with the rest of her decor!

Jenna is here with her little bear Jacob got for her when she was born.  She's only a little bit bigger than the bear :)
