We arrived in Savannah, GA sort of late. We took our time leaving Charleston and then took the scenic route to Savannah, which took us about 3 hours (if you take the interstate it's usually 2 hrs). We were told that we HAD to eat at The Pirate's House while we were in Savannah, so we followed orders! ;)
The kids LOVED it! They both got pirate hats and accessories, which directly after this picture was taken, Jenna proceeded to destroy said hat and accessories. I was at least able to get a cute picture before she did though!
So a little history...General Oglethorpe and colonists arrived from England in 1733 and established Savannah. They established a garden called the Trustees Garden. The small building (below) was built in 1734 for the gardener of the Trustees' Garden. It is known as the oldest house in Georgia and is part of The Pirate's House. (We were told people will wait long period's of time to get a seat at one of the few tables located in the house). When the gardens failed, one of the first buildings built in Savannah after some residential houses was what is now know as The Pirate's House! Everyone from pirates and sailors would gather and drink their fill. If you have the time, stay around for one of the free tours given by the staff. It is very informative and entertaining!
The food was a little on the expensive side, but it was very good. The husband had the pork chops (I think he was tiring of seafood, whereas I couldn't get enough!) and I had the jumbo crab cakes (which I do not see on the menu any more). I would highly recommend making a reservation, especially if it is during tourist season. This place is VERY popular!
I asked for our best pirate's ARRR, I'm not sure I got it...
